ABOUT
IVA
IVA
began as a response to widespread expressions of interest from S/NVQ
centres’ staff and awarding bodies’ external verifiers.
They wanted the establishment of a practitioner-led independent
body, funded by members’ subscriptions, which would
keep Assessors and Verifiers in touch with developing practice and
one another.
DfES
supports IVA as an organisation that gives guidance and support
to assessors & verifiers and promotes their professional
development.
Now
in our tenth year we continue to receive excellent levels of support
and growth in membership with members’assessment and verification
interests already covering several hundred different qualifications
and have developed into an organisation with an international
membership with members in eight countries. IVA is now incorporated
and hopes to obtain charitable status.
IVA
provides a point of information and support for members irrespective
of the qualification they assess or verify. It promotes
and disseminates good practice through regional and international
seminars and workshops, free to members and publishes
and circulates the quarterly IVA Newsletter.
Individual
membership is restricted to assessors and verifiers who have been
awarded with Training & Development D Units or Learning
& Development A & V Units by any awarding body accredited
to offer them by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority
(QCA) or Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). Members of IVA
receive a unique reference number on registration and
may use the post-nominal letters MIVA whilst in membership.
